Alys Beach, Florida – (July 29, 2008) – A unique event created to celebrate some of the world’s most talented digital artists will be hosted by a Florida resort town this Labor Day weekend.

Organizers say that "Digital Graffiti at Alys Beach" is the very first event of its kind anywhere.

"We've invited artists worldwide to project their works onto our famous white walls using the latest technologies," said Kelli Arnold, Alys Beach's Events Coordinator. "Our entire town will literally become their blank canvas."

Sometimes referred to as "Photon Bombing," "Guerilla Projection," "Projection Bombing" or "Urban

Projection," underground artists around the globe have started using the latest technologies to project video art onto skyscrapers and other urban structures, as a means of artistic expression. But no outdoor event has ever been organized before to celebrate these talented artists.

"We were flooded with entries from all around the world, including original YouTube videos, Adobe Flash animations, fractals, short films, abstract PhotoShop creations and cutting-edge interactive concepts," said Arnold. "We received submissions from artists as far away as London, Israel, India, Austria, New York, Germany, Los Angeles, France, Canada, Italy and even China."

To be held on the evening of Saturday, August 30th, the world's first outdoor projection art festival will be hosted by a panel of celebrity and industry judges, including Alan Hunter, MTV's very first "VJ" and Co-Founder of the Sidewalk Moving Picture Festival. Over $6,500 in cash prizes will be awarded, including a special $1,000 prize to the best entry with a "green" or environmental theme.
